Ecological Crisis

"We believe there is compelling evidence that damage to humans and the worldwide environment, is of such magnitude and seriousness that new principles for conducting human activities are necessary." - Wingspread Conference Center. January 1998.

One specie of fish threatens biodiversity in America: Asian Carpocalypse Featured

This invasive specie threatens to completely destroy the biodiversity of the Great Lakes. Asian carp are fast-growing, aggressive and adaptable fish that are outcompeting native fish species for food and habitat in much of the mid-section of the United States. Asian carp were introduced into Southern fish farm ponds in the 1970s and quickly spread across the United States. They are now on the verge of invading the Great Lakes.
